TanTrump I’m not a conspiracy nut, but I read Fear by the late Michael Crichton. It was written over a decade ago. He nailed many of the issues we are now seeing with genetic testing. It’s only a matter of time before insurance companies and employers get this info and refuse to hire or insure. We’ve all been warned! February 5, 2019 Reply Compscilaw It doesn't matter if they disclosed it or not. Everyone. Listen up: You do not have privacy from the government for anything that you share with a third party who is not a lawyer or a doctor. None! You should keep that in mind throughout the rest of your life on this Earth. February 5, 2019 Reply Griffiith Love Aida! February 5, 2019 Reply Running Refrigerator Im hungry im going to mcdonalds. Employers will pay out the nose to see this information and only hire healthy people!!! February 5, 2019 Reply Sophia Saldaña I bought a family member a Family Tree DNA test a few years back. Honestly as much as I want to see criminals caught, she is right, when does it stop and what crimes can they charge you with or try to link you or your family to a crime scene your DNA just happened to be at? You can give consent for you but if that is where it stopped the risk is all your own you can give consent for yourself but not your relatives. February 5, 2019 Reply Peter Harris White color crime won't be caught with DNA. Keystrokes are recorded not which keyboard is used as they can be replaced at anytime. They are not going to reverse position and withdraw access to the FBI oh, you know that I know that all your viewers know that. Why are you even trying to feed us garbage like this? February 5, 2019 Reply Adrian Libis I can imagine that healthcare insurance companies would love to have your DNA to be able to find potential genetic conditions they could refuse coverage for, too…. February 5, 2019 Reply bangmeister2012 If they have your dna and you're someone important or influential and making waves that Washington doesnt like they can now plant your dna and frame you for murder. Home of the free my ass February 5, 2019 Reply dubtat It doesn't matter. They've been collecting DNA at birth for years. February 5, 2019 Reply weworkforamerica Actually Family Tree was started as a way to reconnect Jewish families broken up by the Holocaust. If you were a Schwartz from Minsk or one from Istanbul how could you tell if you were related or how closely. The fascists destroyed all their records and MILLIONS were killed. Family Tree later learned that Gentiles were also interested. Sure they should disclose but first cite the cases of actual damage before demonizing them. February 5, 2019 Reply graiant Guess what, every time you do blood work they can collect your dna and use. Even better as the collection is made on person. Just like fb, twiteer, traffic cams everything is revorded. February 5, 2019 Reply Kane Walton The myth that DNA can provide you meaningful insights into your heritage is a quintessential abuse of biology. Bottom line if you haven’t learnt your heritage by living then it isn’t your heritage. February 5, 2019 Reply will s I’m still pissed my dna test came back mostly guinea 😡 February 5, 2019 Reply Kevin Alexander This is how the authorities caught the BTK killer. That's a win but what's to stop then from framing folks they want to silence or arrest by planting DNA evidence. February 5, 2019 Reply cozmikcastaway Willy nilly February 5, 2019 Reply Adam U. Jenk, Ana, the reason you shouldn't do these at-home 'ancestry' DNA tests isn't because they might sell some of your DNA to private companies or hand it over to the FBI. You shouldn't do it because the results are overstated. Nothing in your DNA says ' you are 20% Dominican'. Essentially each company keeps a big database of common markers they believe are indicative of certain segments of the population or regions of the world based on educated guessing, inconclusive scientific papers & their own marketing. For example, Asian people often have DNA markers that are 'linked' to lactose intolerance. That doesn't mean that everyone who is lactose intolerant has Asian ancestry. Hell not everyone who is lactose intolerant even has the markers for it, the science is inconclusive. Do enough digging and you'll find that they admit to an accuracy between 50 and 70%. What is worse, is they don't share this information with each other. You can literally get tests from multiple companies and get results that don't agree with one another. This industry is basically junk science and marketing, profiting off the back of the wide-spread believe that DNA is infallible. February 5, 2019 Reply naschylobo I swear I’ve never heard this Aida woman talk without mentioning she’s a ‘person of colour’ February 5, 2019 Reply Copper On Fire Love Ana’s fire and she right when push comes to shove they will just give up your DNA. February 5, 2019 Reply Zed Wolf What I want to know does the FBI give the private company who they are looking for or does the company give them everyone in their data bank. It's not like I trust either one of them. February 5, 2019 Reply Kezoman1 I don't have my DNA checked because I know it's not very accurate, and I do think they should disclose, up front, that your DNA analysis could end up being shared with legitimate law enforcement agencies, but any news discussion group would not be wise to bemoan this activity at face value. February 5, 2019 Reply Kat Heymann I took the test for health evaluations but also to find out more about my heritage. My immediate family is from Hungary and I was told my father's family was from Italy. Unfortunately, most of my relatives died before or during WWII. Records were destroyed and, because I'm partially Jewish, heredity wasn't talked about. I found out that I'm only 2% Italian, lots of eastern Europe, Asian and 1% Native American. This helps explain why I was asked if I was Native American growing up with just enough darker summer skin and long brown hair. It’s not like they give you a choice February 5, 2019 Reply Super One One thing that wasn't mentioned when you voluntarily give up your DNA is that you are also giving up familial DNA for future generations of your family. You are donating a DNA link to your future children and grandchildren, who clearly haven't given their permission (since they haven't been conceived yet). February 5, 2019 Reply Kendra Patton I recently took a DNA test (ancestry) and found out that i am not actually part Native American (i have been told that i am my entire life). You think you know who you are until you actually find out. We also found out that my maternal grandfather might not actually be my biological grandfather. Family drams February 5, 2019 Reply Banai Feldstein I knew this would be a bullshit segment. THEY ARE NOT GIVING YOUR DATA OR YOUR DNA TO THE FBI. They are allowing the FBI to upload samples from criminals and match to people who have willingly allowed anyone else on the site to try to match to relatives. If you don't know what you're talking about, you shouldn't talk. This kind of crap from TYT, not understanding what they're talking about, just makes them look stupid. February 5, 2019 Reply peoples Patriot Really is anyone surprised? Let me guess the FBI was paying them. Corporation = no soul = no morals. February 6, 2019 Reply Raymond Rogers Nice rack😘😘😘 February 6, 2019 Reply James Emmrich There are reports that these testing kits are wildly inaccurate. The dna they test is less than 1% of your dna and from testing facility to testing facility will show different results often showing only 50% acurracy or less. They can only approximate where you come from and give a pretty generic wide area where they think you come from. It's pretty interesting. These things are for entertainment purposes and are not to be considered scientific. February 6, 2019 Reply QueSeraSera2010 Slippery slope. But to do it without consent or disclosure is where I have an issue. Include it as an opt-out option in their contract and its done. February 7, 2019 Reply Toe Cutter If they let people know then it wouldn't work. You idiots February 7, 2019 Reply DC T It’s funny….and interesting to point out but if the government REALLY wants your DNA it’s not very difficult to obtain. It may not be legal and the sample may not be as accurate as blood, semen, saliva but it can easily be obtained. The thing about companies who collect specimens for DNA testing is their model has to be built on privacy because one whistleblower with evidence can disrupt their entire operations (Think Snowden). The real deal is it’s just plain easier for the FBI to go directly to the source data. What scares me is if future technologies could use your DNA for nefarious purposes. DNA Cloning is interesting and could lead to all sorts of fascinating experiments. 🧬🐣👨👨👧👧🏃🏽♀️🧖🏼♀️🧖🏾♂️🧚🏽♂️🧜🏼♀️🏋🏾♂️🌽 February 7, 2019 Reply Ani Makigio I'm a little bit of a Pollyanna – I KNOW that not only are criminals genuinely being caught, but unidentified possible homicide victims are being ID'd as well. Criminals today, organ testing tomorrow. Who knows? Since this whole DNA testing for genealogy purposes became mainstream, it sounded interesting, but made me leery. Maybe… February 12, 2019 Reply Karla Faulkner You look roman and greek February 12, 2019 Reply 0MohawkWarrior0 Not to memention that it is a ridiculous waste of money. Any independent geneticist can tell you that these tests are extremely inaccurate. Less than 50% accurate. It is literally based on best guess of information collected with similar matching traits that a lot of individuals in different races tend to have. For example, I am Native American and lots of us tend to have longer toes. If they see a genetic marker for long toes, that is one point toward possible Native American ancestry. I am not kidding. I have a long history working in the medical field and have read all of the peer reviewed research. That is exactly how they do it. Please don't waste your money.
